Kansas City Parade of Homes 2023

NWA based Autumn Rose Interiors was honored to be returning judges for the

Kansas City Parade of Homes, 2023!

We asked our designers to share their awesome experiences from judging and wanted to share some highlights from the Parade of Homes. We appreciate the craftsmanship, design work, and creative planning that went into all of the beautiful homes we viewed. There was so much fresh inspiration, that we just had to share!

What were you most excited to see this year, returning for KC Parade of Homes?

Aubrey: I was especially excited to see some of the really unique floorplans that felt amazing. I was extra tuned into that this year?

Alexis: New Trends, new ideas for basement floor plans (Basements are not as popular in NWA) , re-connecting with designers and builders, and networking with professionals!

Megan: I was so excited to reconnect with people from last year! This was my first year judging and I was very excited to look through the homes with a judge’s eye! …And new trends are always a favorite.

Did you see any trends you fell in love with?

Aubrey: Really loved the accent ceilings. That has really gone up a notch in the creativity and how many are being done even in one home. Also, LED lighting is getting used a lot more. Under bathroom cabinets, in bonus rooms, behind mirrors, under bar shelving, etc.

Alexis: Yes! There was very interesting ceiling feature trends in areas that were unique like: the foyer, dining room, living room, and bedrooms. Also, floating shelves and various types of storage in unique places that was functional and visually appealing,

Megan: There were a lot of really interesting fireplaces and mantles - new concepts that I haven’t seen before!

What experience did you find the most valuable from this year's KC Parade of Homes?

Aubrey: One of the most valuable aspects of judging in the Parade of Homes is the amazing conversations with professionals in other trades. Builders, realtors, fabricators, etc. We all affect each other so much and working well together across our different roles is vital to projects going well. And so learning their perspectives is so helpful to us serving our clients at the highest level possible!

Alexis: This year stood out to me in a more “valuable” way because a few people from our team came to Kansas City this year to judge. So, I felt that it was valuable to collaborate and connect after we judged in our own groups, to share what we loved and the trends that stood out!

Megan: As a judge, I had a new outlook. While walking through the houses, it gave me a new perspective. It teaches you a “new way “to look at the design and quality of the home.

What was your favorite special feature?

Aubrey: One home had 2 special features that I absolutely loved. A very well done sculptural spiral staircase (and the curves were tied in with arches throughout the home) and a massive hood over the stove that spanned the whole counter and looked like old Italian stucco. With a marble slab behind for the backsplash. Just so beautiful!

Alexis: My favorite trend has to be the unique ceiling accents! It was a captivating focal point that showcased a lot of boldness and detail.

Megan: I loved the closet storage that folds up to the ceiling - something I don’t often see here in NWA but for homes with tall ceilings (which is so standard now) it’s such a genius way to make use of all the vertical space!

My favorite trend has to be the unique ceiling accents! It was a captivating focal point that showcased a lot of boldness and detail.
